About the Role

The Animal Management Centre requires two relief Animal Keepers to support the Animal Centre Resource Manager in the maintenance and development of the Centre in line with strategic aims. Do you have the skills and drive to lead a small Estates team looking after out Hartlepool campus? You will supervise the onsite team, part of the larger EPNE Estates team, to continue to drive improvements to our facilities and service and provide the best possible experience for our leaners. Role Responsibilities 

• Manage service desk requests, low level maintenance tasks and Planned Preventive Maintenance schedules ensuring required work is completed in a timely and professional manner.
• Coordinate and support Estates Technicians in the completion of day to day activities, ensuring all tasks are completed to a high standard and in line with departmental procedures.
• Work with line manager to ensure applicable Facilities Management services are maintained in accordance with legislation.
• Ensure appropriate staffing resources are available via staff rotas to meet business needs.
• Work with line manager to drive improvements in energy efficiency, recording metrics to identify high usage.

This is a new and developing provision, which gives you the opportunity to shape systems, support pathways and learner experience from the start. You will work closely with curriculum teams, support services and external partners to ensure learners receive the right support at the right time.

This role offers strong development opportunities in SEND practice, multi-agency working and trauma-informed approaches. You will contribute to staff development and help embed inclusive practice across the college.

Role Responsibilities

• Act as a first point of contact for learners, completing triage, initial assessments and identifying support needs
• Provide short-term interventions, emotional regulation support and clear signposting to services

About the Role

You will provide line management working across college sites at Sunderland College and Hartlepool Sixth Form to a team of Student Support Officers, fostering a supportive and high performing team. The team focus is to offer assistance and advice on the college library and learning resources, study skills, digital tools and student bursary/financial support funds, ensuring that students maximise the benefits of the facilities, resources and services available.

Our Future Ready Hubs epitomize a one-stop shop support centre for college life which is both a physical and digital student hub. Bringing student services functions together so they are effective to use and access, provide a consistent and equitable approach and meet the diverse needs of our student body. We provide a vibrant and welcoming space for students to get help, undertake individual study, collaborate with peers and develop knowledge needed for next steps. 

Role Responsibilities 

• Line management of a team of Student Support Officers
• Service management of the key Welcome desk functions within the Future Ready Hubs at Sunderland College and Hartlepool Sixth Form College.
• Customer service to stakeholders in person, by telephone, and email.
• Providing support to students within the College Future Ready Hubs.
• Leading the timely administration and support regarding student bursary and financial support funds.

Catering Assistant - Casual Work

Do you have free days or availability during the week (Monday–Friday, between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm) and are looking for flexible, paid work alongside your studies?

We are building a casual bank of student Catering Assistants to provide cover during periods of staff sickness, holiday or increased demand across our college campuses. This role is ideal for students who want flexible, as-needed work that fits around their timetable.

About the Role

Casual Catering Assistants are engaged on an ad-hoc basis, often at short notice, to support catering operations at their local campus.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and serving a range of hot and cold food and beverages to staff and students
• Assisting with food preparation, deliveries and safe storage
• Supporting internal hospitality and buffet services
• Operating an EPOS till and handling cash and electronic payments
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, including clearing tables, washing dishes and general cleaning
• Following all health, safety and food hygiene regulations

About you

• Previous experience in a café, bar, restaurant or similar customer-facing role is desirable
• Experience using an EPOS till is advantageous
• Good customer service skills
• Level 1 Food Safety qualification, or willingness to undertake training
• Basic allergen and food hygiene awareness, or willingness to undertake training

These positions offer the opportunity to share your expertise and knowledge with the next generation of tradespeople. We are open to applications for both casual, part-time, temporary, full-time, and sessional positions. Whether you have teaching experience or are looking to transition into education, we can provide the training and support you need to achieve your teaching qualifications.

Taking Teaching Further & Additional Incentive

If you’re making the move into further education teaching, you may be eligible for the Taking Teaching Further (TTF) programme a funded route to help industry professionals retrain as FE teachers.

In addition, for roles in high-need subjects or regions you may also benefit from the government’s targeted retention incentive (formerly “levelling-up premium”) payments, worth up to £6,000 for eligible teachers in their first five years and teaching certain shortage subjects.

Please note eligibility for both TTF and the Targeted Retention Incentive varies by role, subject area and provider, they do not apply to every vacancy.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Trade Lecturers: Deliver engaging and practical lessons that help students build hands-on skills in Carpentry & Joinery, Plumbing, Plastering, or Painting & Decorating, while ensuring they gain the technical knowledge needed to succeed in their careers.
• Programme Leads: Oversee the successful delivery of construction trade programmes, managing a team of educators and ensuring the curriculum aligns with industry standards.
• Curriculum Managers: Develop, implement, and manage high-quality curriculum content, ensuring students receive a comprehensive, practical education in their chosen trade.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Expertise in one or more of the following trades: Carpentry & Joinery, Plumbing, Plastering, or Painting & Decorating.
• Previous experience in the relevant trade industry is essential.
• You don’t need to have formal teaching qualifications at this stage!  We are happy to consider applicants without Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and can provide training to help you achieve your teaching qualifications.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
• Enthusiasm for teaching and a commitment to helping students achieve their potential.
