About the role


The Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering department is a strategic priority and key growth area within the college and the local area. Our delivery includes study programmes, adult and commercial provision and Higher Education at our City Campus in Sunderland. 

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative individual to engage with and inspire a new generation of engineers to support positive student experience, progress and destination. This appointment will offer the opportunity to play a key role in driving forward quality advanced manufacturing engineering provision reflective of the highest industry practice and standards.


About you

Key Qualifications and Experience:


  • Industry Experience: Strong industry-level skills, experience, and expertise in milling, turning, and handfitting.
  • Engineering Qualification: A recognised engineering qualification with a focus on a mechanical discipline is essential.
  • Teaching Potential: Ability and enthusiasm to teach, with a preference for candidates who can deliver Mathematics and Engineering Science to level 5 (desirable).
  • Graduate Candidates: Applications are welcome from newly qualified engineering graduates with relevant skills and potential.
  • Teaching Background (Optional): Current teaching practitioners are encouraged to apply.
  • Industry Professionals: Candidates from industry looking to transition into teaching are also welcome. The college will support achieving a teaching qualification within an appropriate timescale.
  • Motivation and Passion: A strong desire to teach and inspire the next generation of engineers.
  • Commitment to Development: Willingness to engage in professional development to stay up to date with the latest engineering standards and teaching methodologies.
